Feel Good Friday

It’s been a very low-key week here at Casa Aloha, but a good one nonetheless, with lots to make me happy:11061346_950316508324690_136186487022841367_o

  • We had one of our best days ever at the beach this past Sunday. The weather was perfect, the water warm, and there were less people that we expected. Just an amazingly beautiful, relaxing day.
  • Kung Fu Hustle, one of my all-time favorite movies, became available for streaming on Netflix this week. KFH is definitely not your typical kung fu movie. It’s got a great storyline, the scenes, visuals and fight choreography are amazing, the characters well-drawn and interesting, but best of all it is laugh-out-loud funny! And now I can watch it whenever I want.
  • Delicious, ripe peaches and nectarines are still available at Costco! We know they will be gone in a couple more weeks, so we are eating our fill now.photo (11)
  • This beautiful “Sexy Pink” (heliconia) is blooming in our yard. Talk about a happy flower – it makes me smile every time I see it.
  • We put $20.66 in the change/$1 bill jar this week (it helped that a lot of cans were turned in for recycling)!
  • I got some terrific suggestions and ideas from readers on this past Wednesday’s post about where we should travel. Thank you!
  • Our grandson had his tonsils out early in the week and is recovering nicely – yeah!

How was your week? What went right for you? What made you happy?

I realized that I haven’t given you any ideas other than Istanbul on your travel related post. I am planning a visit to Munich, Salzburg, Milan, Florence and Venice with my mom next spring. I may fly into either of the cities (not Salzburg) depending on the airfare and car rental prices.

Two years ago we went to Barcelona with mom and stayed outside the city by a beach area. It was great. I think the hop-on, hop-off bus tour was the highlight of our vacation because driving in a foreign country requires extra attention and I had a hard time enjoying the beautiful city of Barcelona. We even drove to Andorra which was interesting to see but was extremely overrated in terms of shopping. As I am used to low outlet prices in the U.S., Andorra was terribly expensive.

In about 6 weeks, I will be flying to NYC spending three nights in Manhattan, driving upstate to visit friends, to South Carolina to visit other friends and back to NY via a different route to do some sightseeing. It will be 20 day vacation. I can’t wait!

I will be looking forward to hearing about your trips. I love reading about others’ travels, and they give me ideas for things we might want to see and do if we visit the same places. Having to drive while overseas is at the bottom of our list of experiences, although we’ll never say never because sometime it just makes more sense to have a car.

That flower is amazing!! I love Feel Good Fridays. Makes me reflect for a moment on my week. With my kids home for summer we have so much fun, even though one is a Teen and we have those Teen Moments. But mostly it is good and I love the summer days of not having to rush around so much, like we do during the school year. More time for fun, that is for sure. Off to the beach with the dog this morning.

I absolutely love being home with my kids during the summer. Always have. I love the lazy days, the sleeping in, the chance for us to catch our breath, talk, be spontaneous, etc. While I could never homeschool, I always feel kind of sad when I send them back to school each year (and then quickly learn to enjoy having time to myself again 😉 ).
